Complete constructions on time to expand irrigation area to one crore hectares in state: CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that a target has been set to expand the irrigation area in the state to one crore hectares by 2028-29. Hence all construction activities must be completed within the set timeframe. The Chief Minister also highlighted that a large number of devotees are expected to visit Omkareshwar during Simhastha 2028, necessitating the construction of ghats on both banks of the Narmada River in Omkareshwar. He issued these directives during a meeting of the Narmada Valley Development Authority. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Jagdish Devda, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, and other officials were present at the meeting held at Samatva Bhavan in the Chief Minister’s residence. During the meeting, the progress of construction works on various projects was reviewed, including the Teria Nala Dam, Saner Dam, and the micro irrigation system under the Badadev Joint Micro Irrigation Project, Sondwa Micro Lift Irrigation Project, Dhar Lift Micro Irrigation Project, Bahoriband Lift Micro Irrigation Project, Narmada-Jhabua-Petlawad-Thandla-Sardarpur Lift Micro Irrigation Project, Dhimarkheda Micro Lift Irrigation Project, and canal construction under the Bargi Diversion Project besides the Maheshwar-Janapav Lift Micro Irrigation Project was also assessed. Discussions were held on the construction of ghats on both banks of the Narmada River at Omkareshwar and Navghat-Kheri in Khandwa district, as well as the Indira Sagar Omkareshwar Pump Storage Project. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Shri Mohammad Suleman, and officers of the Narmada Valley Development Authority.
