Lonavala, Feb 17 (Reporter) Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP of continuously criticising Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in an attempt to end Gandhi-Nehru ideology. Addressing two-day state-level camp on concluding day here, he alleged that Modi and BJP are working to end democracy. "If Modi comes back to power, many people will have to go to jail. Because he does not believe in democracy or the Constitution. This election, we are faced with, is a do or die situation," he continued. Emphasising on the need for booth management, Chennithala said that there is very little time left for the Lok Sabha elections. "INDIA bloc should work unitedly to ensure that we win 48 seats in the state. Also, there should be discipline within the party. It will not work if anyone starts speaking out of line. NSUI, Youth Congress, frontal cells should also have regional-level meetings," he added. Speaking on occasion, Congress state president Nana Patole said, "The Congress party should be united in entire state... Everyone should work on agenda of the party and as a Congress worker... We must create awareness about how BJP is lying, cheating people. INDIA bloc must win and defeat BJP. The atmosphere in the state is in favour of Congress and Maha Vikas Aghadi. Remember that, Maharashtra can stop Modi from coming back to power." Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat said that Congress has not regressed, but people's principles are regressing. "At present, politics does not have any ideology. People who have quit the party will come back when the Congress comes to power. We should take a stand that such an ideology will not work. Don't let such commercial politics to continue. We should not allow such people within the Congress party," he asserted. "Elections are going to be fought in an alliance. No matter who the candidate is, the goal is the same that BJP and Narendra Modi should not stay in power, it is not in interest of the country," Thorat added. Former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that Prime Minister Modi is constantly saying that India's economy is the fifth largest and India will become a developed nation in 2047, when it will celebrate centenary of independence. India's economy has become the fifth largest, but the pace of the Indian economy under the leadership of Narendra Modi is much slower than during the Manmohan Singh government, if the growth had been at the same pace, India would have become the third largest economy today, he said. During the UPA period, the economy expanded by 183 per cent, while during the Modi era, it is 103 per cent, he pointed and attributed the slow pace of economy to demonetisation, implementation of GST, sudden lockdown, war waged against farmers and corruption. "A dream is being shown that India will become a developed nation in the year 2047 but for that, the per capita income should be 13,845 dollars, whereas currently India's per capita income is 2,800 dollars. And for that, our economy has to grow at a rate of 10 per cent but during the Modi government, the rate of the economy is around 6.0-6.25 per cent. The Modi government is only trying to mislead people," Chavan added...////...
