Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the revered ‘Dharati Aba’, be celebrated as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ on November 15, marking the conclusion of his 150th birth anniversary year. He instructed that various developmental and cultural activities be organized from November 1 to 15, across all levels, from village panchayats to the state capital.
CM Dr. Yadav said that educational institutions should hold programmes highlighting Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle. Exhibitions should be organized focusing on tribal heroes who were active in different regions of the state. Competitions on the tribal community’s role in the national freedom movement, such as debates, essays, speeches, quizzes, and other cultural events, should also be conducted.
CM Dr. Yadav, presiding over a review meeting on the preparations for ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ at Samatva Bhavan, Chief Minister’s residence, instructed that self-help group conventions, handicraft exhibitions and folk art activities also form part of the celebrations. In tribal-dominated regions, fairs held during this period should include exhibitions on freedom fighters and their legacy. He said that events organised on the concluding day should also disseminate information about the government’s welfare and development programs to the masses.
Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretaries Neeraj Mandloi and Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary for Tribal Affairs Gulshan Bamra and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
