Gaya, Oct 4 (Reporter) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of Patna branch Ajay Pratap Singh and his two agents when they were taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh.
CBI sources said here on Friday that Singh was receiving the bribe amount along with his brother-in-law Himanshu and an agent near Magadh University on Gaya Dhobi Road. All three were caught red-handed.
The CBI team conducted simultaneous raids at various places of Ajay located in Gaya, Patna, and Varanasi from where several important documents were recovered. The CBI team was interrogating all the three arrested people.
The NIA had raided various hideouts of former MLC Manorama Devi on September 19 for her alleged connections with Naxalites.
During the raid, 10 firearms and more than Rs 4 crore were recovered. The NIA had made DSP Ajay Pratap Singh the investigating officer of the case.
The DSP Singh had sent a notice to Manorama Devi's son Rocky Yadav owner of
Ramaiya Construction on September 24 and called him to the Patna office regarding this matter.
Rocky had alleged that the DSP threatened to implicate him and his family members for their connections with the Naxalites and had demanded Rs 2.5 crore which Rocky agreed to pay to protect his family members.
Later he was called on October 1 and Rs 70 lakh was demanded from him and was asked to pay in Patna the same day. However Rocky pleaded for some time and later on October 3 he agreed to pay the bribe in Gaya. The CBI, however, got the information after which the DSP along with two others were arrested...////...
