New Delhi, Aug 16 (Reporter) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form a majority government in Jammu and Kashmir after the upcoming Assembly polls, its co-incharge for the Union Territory Ashish Sood said here.
Sood's remarks came after the Election Commission announced announced thee-phase Assembly polls in J&K starting September 18.
Responding to UNI he said, "Our preparation has been complete from the beginning. We have been going among the people with our achievements and it is on this basis that we will contest the elections this time as well".
"In the last 10 years, due to our government, there have been many changes in the Union Territory and these changes will continue in future," he said.
To a question about the recent terrorist attacks in Jammu, he said, "Kashmir has become a terrorist-free area only due to the 'proactive' policy of the BJP. Now tourists come here, not terrorists."
He added that under the patronage of some Pro-Pakistan people, some terrorists have tried to raise their heads here, "which the army is suppressing".
He said, "Under the BJP government, the number of tourists has increased here instead of terrorists".
Speaking about other development initiatives undertaken by the central government, Sood said
Start-ups and employment opportunities have increased in Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our issue in this assembly elections would be employment opportunities and transparent administration. BJP does politics not for gaining power but for the development of the people.
"We are with PM Modi's resolve for a developed India. We are going to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir this time" he told UNI.
The voting will take place in J&K on September 18, 25 and October 1. The votes will be counted on October 4.
In the 90-seat Assembly, post delimitation 43 seats ARE in the Jammu region and 47 in Kashmir...////...
