BJP dismisses Rahul's Stock Market Scam allegation as 'absurd'

New Delhi, June 6 (Reporter) Hitting back after Rahul Gandhi's allegation of a Stock Market scam, the BJP on Thursday said his accusations reflect disappointment over the opposition's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Terming the allegations "absurd", the BJP charged Rahul Gandhi with hatching a "conspiracy to mislead the market investors". Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarters, BJP leader Piyush Goyal said , "In the last 10 successful years of PM Modi our market cap crossed $5 trillion for the first time". He added that the market cap of the Public Sector Undertakings listed on the market has increased around 4 times in PM Modi's tenure. Earlier, Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, made comments about the stock market during the recent elections. He said retail investors lost Rs 30 Lakh Crore,and this is the biggest Stock Market 'Scam'. He also demanded the constitution of a Joint Parliament Committee to look into the issue. Rebutting the former Congress President's allegations, Goyal said, "Ten years ago, during the rule of the Congress-led UPA, India's market cap was only Rs 67 lakh crore. Modi Government inherited it in May 2014, which has increased to Rs 415 lakh crore today". "Today India has become the 5th largest economy of the world. Today the whole world accepts India as the fastest growing economy," he said, adding "Modi ji has assured the country that in his third term the country will become the third largest economy of the world." Goyal said Gandhi should fulfill the promise of giving Rs 1 lakh to every woman, who were seen standing outside Congress offices. "I hope that Rahul Gandhi, instead of misleading investors and people, would focus on fulfilling the promises he made during the elections" he said...////...
