Patna, Oct 5 (Reporter) A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Saturday awarded maximum of 12 years imprisonment to six accused and also slapped Rs 30,000 as fine on them for planting improved explosive devise (IED) in a pressure cooker on railway track at Ghorasahan station in East Champaran district.
Special NIA court Judge Abhijeet Sinha, after hearing arguments of counsels of both sides -- prosecution and defence, awarded imprisonment of various periods ranging from nine years to 12 years in the case.
Three convicts were awarded 12 years of imprisonment, while three others were awarded nine years of imprisonment. All of them were also slapped a fine ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000.
They would have to undergo additional imprisonment of three months, if failed to pay the fine.
According to the prosecutor, six accused were arrested in connection with planting of a pressure cooker bomb on track at Ghorasahan station. Three accused were declared either dead or absconders. Case was handed over to NIA and an FIR (first information report) was lodged following terror link established in the case in 2017.
