Patna, Mar 6 (Reporter) Accusing RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav of indulging in cheap entertainment during the 15 years of Lallu-Rabri husband-wife duo regime, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary alleged that Yadav was never keen for Bihar's development which actually progressed under the Chief Ministership of Nitish Kumar whose regime saw 11 percent hike in the per capita income.
While replying to the debate on Income- Expenditure for the financial year 2025-26, during the post-lunch sitting in the state assembly on Thursday, Choudhary said that
the per capita income which was just Rs 6000 in 2001 jumped in the regime of Kumar and was currently Rs 66000. He said that with this hike it is evident that the development took place under the rule of Nitish Kumar.
Chaudhary alleged that the Lalu family was living in illusion and indulged in spreading rumors to confuse the people. No work was done in between 1990 to 2005. When Nitish Kumar came to power in 2005, 54 percent of the population was under the poverty line which was presently reduced to 34 percent.
Without taking the name of the leader of opposition Tejaswi Prasad Yadav, Chaudhary accused him of not concentrating on his studies and instead of playing cricket he fetched water for other players. It was unfortunate that during his lifetime he was able to make only 37 runs even while playing cricket, he quipped.
Accusing Yadav of promoting dynasty culture in politics, Choudhary said that behaving like a king Lalu Yadav introduced his Rani (wife Rabri Devi) in the politics followed by Rajkumar (his son ) and Rajkumari (his daughter). He said that since 1997 till date a chargesheeted person and accused of crime was continuing on the post of National President of RJD.
Chaudhary said that concentrating on the development of the state, the NDA government spent 95 to 98 percent of the funds. Giving details he said that 96.26 percent of the fund was spent in 2023-24 financial year 97.57 percent in 2022-23 financial year. He said 84 percent of the fund has been spent in the current financial year and hoped to spend the rest of the amount by the end of the current financial year.
Outlining the achievements of the state government he said that now the government does not have to take up the flood fighting measures as it has moved ahead on interlinking of rivers projects.
Chaudhary said that education was never on the priority list of Yadav as the dropout during that period was high. He said that no new Medical College Hospital was opened during Yadav's regime whereas under the rule of Nitish Kumar the strength of Government Medical College hospitals has gone up to 12.
Chaudhary said that Nitish has a vision of development and the budget has been prepared keeping in mind the progress path for the next 20 years.
He also outlined the initiatives taken by the Centre for development of Bihar.
Earlier dissatisfied with the reply of the government, the opposition had staged a noisy walk out.
