Bengal: Suvendu urges ECI to take action against Santipur BDO

Kolkata, Mar 1 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Saturday urged the Election Commission of India as well as the CEO, of West Bengal, to initiate action against Santipur BDO in Nadia district for convening an all-party meeting on March five for verification of voter list and booth-level agents list. Adhikari alleged that the BDO has issued a memo to the president and secretaries of all political parties, asking them to attend a meeting for the post-revision activities of special summary revision of the electoral roll (SRER) 2025. "The agenda of the meeting also includes providing a booth-level agents (BLA) list and identify dead voters and those voters who have shifted from the area," Adhikari said on his social media. He alleged that the BDO who is also the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer of the 86-Shantipur and 87-Ranaghat Uttar Paschim Assembly constituencies, has overstepped his authority as no such order or instructions were issued either by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) West Bengal or the Election Commission of India. The final voter list has already been published on January five, 2025, and any such revision process has to be an exception which can only be carried out after specific instructions from either by the CEO West Bengal or the ECI, which was just not the case here. "I would like to urge the CEO West Bengal and ECI to take strong action against such biased officers and ensure that such biased officers are refrained from taking part in the election process," the Nandigram MLA said...////...
