New Delhi, Feb 27 (Reporter) The Bar Council of India (BCI) is gearing up for crucial elections on Sunday, March 2, to elect its Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Executive Members. With intense competition and growing speculation over potential leadership shifts, the election is set to be one of the most closely watched in BCI history. A BCI media release on Thursday said the deadline for nominations is February 28, while candidates can withdraw their nominations by March 1. The elections will be held on March 2 and results will be declared by the same evening. This year’s elections are expected to be fiercely contested, with members from various states actively strategising to challenge the existing leadership. Currently, Senior Advocate and Rajya Sabha MP, Manan Kumar Mishra is the Chairman, a slot he has been servingfor six consecutive terms. Senior Tamil Nadu’r Advocate S Prabhakaran is the Vice Chairman, while Senior Advocate Apurba Kumar Sharma from Assam is the Executive Chairman. For the past six terms, the Chairman’s position has been secured unopposed by Mishra. but this time, a major challenge is brewing as members from other states prepare to contest.
