Warangal (Telangana), Feb 23 (Reporter) Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar criticised the Congress government in Telangana for advising farmers against cultivating paddy, calling it an irrational move.
He accused Congress of failing to utilize abundant water resources and surrendering Krishna River water to Andhra Pradesh, leading to water shortages and agricultural distress.
Addressing teacher voters at Bollikunta Vaagdevi Engineering College in Warangal during an MLC election campaign on Sunday, Bandi Sanjay urged graduates, teachers, and employees to support BJP-backed candidate Sarotham Reddy.
He alleged that both BRS and Congress failed to field credible candidates, pushing independents who would ultimately align with Congress. He called on voters to elect representatives who would genuinely raise their concerns in the Legislative Council.
Highlighting the deteriorating water situation, Bandi Sanjay blamed Congress for mismanaging the Kaleshwaram project and failing to provide irrigation support despite heavy rainfall.
He condemned the government’s inefficiency in addressing farmers' woes, pointing out that nearly seven lakh acres of crops had withered due to water shortages.
Additionally, he criticised the delay in fee reimbursement, alleging that Congress leaders were demanding commissions to clear pending dues, pushing educational institutions to the brink of closure.
Bandi Sanjay further slammed the Congress government for failing to deliver on promises, including job creation, pension hikes, and loan waivers.
He accused the Congress of neglecting public welfare while the BJP, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had significantly improved India’s economic standing. He emphasized the BJP’s role as the primary opposition in Telangana, highlighting its efforts in fighting for teachers, employees, and the unemployed.
Predicting BJP’s victory in the MLC elections, he claimed surveys already indicated Congress's downfall and accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of resorting to unethical tactics, including monetary inducements, to sway voters.
