Hyderabad, Apr 8 (Reporter) Anti-Terrorism Forum (ATF) Chairman Dr Ravinuthala Shashidhar welcomed Telangana High Court verdict upholding the death sentence awarded by the NIA court to five accused in the 2013 Dilsukhnagar twin bomb blasts case.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dr Shashidhar said the death penalty is the rightful punishment for the Indian Mujahideen terrorists who waged war against the nation and killed innocent civilians. "These terrorists have no right to live on earth," he asserted. He further demanded that Riyaz Bhatkal, the mastermind behind 29 bomb blasts across India including Dilsukhnagar, be extradited from Pakistan and hanged.
Dr Shashidhar called for a full investigation into organisations such as Jamaat-e-Ulema Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, and other local entities and individuals who allegedly provided legal aid to the accused terrorists.
He also expressed regret that the families of the 18 people killed and 131 injured in the Dilsukhnagar blasts—as well as victims of the Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park bombings—have not yet received assistance from the state government.
He urged the government to immediately support the victims' families and take strong action against terrorism. Dr Shashidhar also expressed concern over several towns in Telangana, including Hyderabad, allegedly becoming safe havens for extremists.
