Itanagar, Apr 16 (Reporter) The first batch of polling teams of Arunachal Pradesh’s Siang district was dispatched with polling materials including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) for two far-flung polling stations in the district, an official in the District Election Office said on Tuesday.
Both the polling booths – Gasseng and Gate – are inaccessible and remotely located in Payum Circle, one of the oldest circles of Arunachal Pradesh.
The polling teams will be stationed at Molo for the night and from thereon they will undertake a treacherous three-day foot march to reach their respective polling booths, the official said.
The two polling stations fall under the Rumgong Assembly segment and Arunachal West Parliamentary Constituency.
For the remaining seven polling stations in the district, where a two-day foot march will be required, the polling teams will depart for their respective polling booths from the district headquarters, Boleng, on Wednesday.
Each team has one Presiding Officer, four Polling Officers, 15 Attendants/Porters, and two Policemen with four sets of EVMs and VVPATs (including reserve EVMs), the official added.
