The Cabinet meeting was held on Tuesday at Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. The Cabinet has approved amendments for the effective implementation of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah / Nikah Yojana. The Cabinet approved key decisions aimed at social welfare and environmental conservation.
The Cabinet approved the provision of financial assistance for the marriages of girls from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah / Nikah Yojana. Assistance will be extended only after verification of BPL status through the official portal. Mass marriage events will be organised annually on a divisional and rotational basis as per a pre-determined calendar.
Under this scheme, a total amount of Rs. 55,000 will be provided per beneficiary. Out of this, Rs. 49,000 will be transferred directly to the bride’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in the form of an account payee cheque, and Rs. 6,000 will be allocated to the concerned local body for organising the marriage ceremony.
The number of couples per event will range from a minimum of 11 to a maximum of 200. All applications will be scrutinised at the local level, and Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification of both bride and groom on the Samagra portal will be mandatory. Efforts will be made to ensure the meaningful participation of public representatives and social organizations to promote community support and mobilise resources from well-off citizens.
