Lucknow, June 5 (Reporter) Hours after the dust started to settle on a hectic counting process in the world's biggest election that declared the response of over 64.2 crore voters, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, who crafted a historical mandate for the INDIA bloc in Uttar Pradesh, welcomed the electorate on Wednesday in a long post on X.
After capturing 37 seats in the crucially political state, the "UP scion" attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with the reminder that neither power nor deceit can defeat the power of the people.
Taking to X, Akhilesh expressed his gratitude to the people of Uttar Pradesh for supporting the SP and Congress alliance.
The SP chief, who has waited for five long years after things did not work out in 2019, said: "The popular victory of the INDI alliance in UP also is a victory of the trust of the Dalit-Bahujan community which, along with its backward, minority, tribal, half the population and all the neglected, exploited and oppressed sections of the society, has fought shoulder to shoulder to save the Constitution which gives the right to equality, respect, self-respect, dignified life and reservation."
The state that has been the canvas for many a social engineering by all parties at play to capture the most Lok Sabha seats (80), has shown its faith in the Congress-SP alliance after the 2019 debacle of a SP-BSP tie up.
Akhilesh credited the victory to "the strong alliance of backward-dalit-minority-tribal, half the population and backward among the upper castes in the form of PDA, which is made even stronger by the good people of every society and class with their cooperation and contribution".
He dedicated the victory to "women's dignity and women's safety", "the golden future of young women and boys", and "new hopes of farmers, labourers, businessmen and traders".
Calling the results "a collective victory of harmony-loving, inclusive and egalitarian positive people of the entire society", he said it has only been made possible by "the continuous, tireless, fearless and honest efforts of an unbiased and honest media".
Akhilesh also hailed the victory as that "of the protectors of the Constitution who consider it as their life-giver", "the courageous supporters of democracy", besides being that "of the poor".
He celebrated the mandate as "victory for democracy", "victory of positive politics" and "victory of people with true and good hearts". "This is the victory of INDIA's team and their Pichhra Dalit Alpsankhyak PDA's strategy," he said. "Dear voters, you have proved that no one's power nor anyone's deceit is greater than the power of the people. This time it is the people who have won, not the rulers. May the public keep winning…!!!" he added.
Akhilesh promised to "maintain and fulfil the trust you have placed in us with full responsibility", as he expressed his "heartfelt" gratitude for the voters' "infinite best wishes for the new positive times to come".
He signed off with "Long live the public!!!"
The SP has become the party with the highest number of seats by winning 37 seats while its ally in the INDI block, Congress, has won six seats in the election results announced on Tuesday. BJP has been reduced to 33 seats from Uttar Pradesh.
The SP chief also went to his parliamentary constituency Kannauj earlier in the day and took the certificate of victory along, before leaving for Delhi to participate in the INDIA bloc's meeting to be held this evening...////...
