Mumbai, April 23 (Reporter) After the terrorist attack in J&K's Pahalgam, the state government is working in action mode for the safety of tourists from Maharashtra who have gone to that state and bring them back safely.
According to the an official statement issued on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directly contacted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the phone and requested him to provide immediate necessary assistance to tourists from Maharashtra.
Stating that the priority is to bring every tourist back home safely and provide relief to their families, special officers will be appointed in the disaster management room of the ministry to coordinate with the stranded tourists and provide them with necessary assistance.
Pawar has appealed to the grandchildren of tourists stranded in Kashmir not to panic.
The Deputy CM has told officials to coordinate with the Central government and the J&K administration to provide necessary assistance to the stranded tourists.
He has also contacted Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol and discussed special flight services. Arrangements will be made for the quick and safe return of tourists by sending as many flights as required.
Pawar is personally monitoring the entire process and is in constant touch with the relevant state and Central government agencies. The state government has put the district administration, tourism department and emergency management agencies on alert and is closely monitoring the situation.
The Deputy CM has also contacted the tourists stranded in Kashmir over the phone and reassured them help.
Pawar has instructed the government agencies to immediately bring the bodies of the citizens of Maharashtra who died in the terror attack and provide necessary treatment to the injured.
The state government has appealed to the citizens to remain calm and not panic. Regular contact is being made with the families of the tourists and objective and timely information is being provided to them.
