Shimla, May 27 (Reporter) Abnormal heatwave continued in Himachal Pradesh on Monday as mercury remained five to six degree higher than normal forcing Indian Meteorological department to issue orange alert.
All the tourist resorts, including in Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, Dharmshala and Kufri, are witnessing heavy footfall of tourists. Long queues of tourists cabs are causing traffic jams for hours.
Meanwhile, IMD said people should remain vigilant from unprecedented heatwave and sun strokes as Una was 44.4 degree Celsius on Sunday, around 5.3 degree above normal. Maximum temperature of Bilaspur and Hamirpur also increased to 43 and 42 degree Celsius, around six degree above normal.
The sudden rise in the temperature increases the discharge of glacial rivers, and snowline areas are also showing sign of inclement weather and summer showers.
According to IMD, Tabo in Spiti valley recorded windstorm with 53 kmph, Reckong Peo 51 kmph, Nauni in Solan 50 kmph and Mashobra 44 kmph.
Tourist resort Manali had one mm rain last night. The sky was mainly clear.
Despite a western disturbance and a cyclonic circulation there is no chance of respite from the dry weather and heatwave.
IMD predicted heatwave condition in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Sirmour, Shimla, Solan and Kangra district...////...
