Srinagar, Sep 20 (Reporter) At least four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed, and 32 others were injured, some critically, after the bus they were traveling in fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Friday, officials said.
They said a civil bus, hired by the BSF for election duty, was carrying a total of 36 BSF personnel when it met with the accident this evening in the Brell Waterhail area of Budgam, resulting in injuries to several BSF men.
A senior health officer said that three jawans were brought dead to Budgam hospital.
"One of the injured succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Twelve critically injured jawans were shifted to hospitals in Srinagar for treatment," the health official added.
Three of the deceased personnel have been identified as Dayanand, Ram Ajadiya Singh, and Sukh Basi Lal.
The civilian driver was also injured in the accident.
Following the accident, a joint rescue operation was launched with the help of local residents to assist the injured.
Budgam district is one of six districts in J&K where 26 Assembly Constituencies will go to the polls in the second phase on September 25.
