Mumbai Mar 7 ( UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Friday that a scheme is being prepared in the state soon on the lines of the Central Government's Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana and one and half crore consumers will be exempt from electricity bills.
Speaking at the Legislative Assembly, Fadnavis said 70 percent of electricity consumers will benefit from the scheme.
The Chief Minister, who was replying to the debate on the Governor's address in the House, said he started the Solar Agricultural Pump Scheme for those who asked for it. In eight years, 1 lakh 84 thousand pumps were installed in the state. In the last 1 year, 3.5 lakh pumps have been installed.
Fourteen lakh acres of land has come under irrigation due to 2 lakh 75 thousand agricultural pumps. "We are the number one in the country in the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana," he said.
1 lakh 30 thousand household consumers have been given the benefit of the Roof Solar Scheme by providing a subsidy of more than 1 thousand crores, he added.
"70 percent of our household consumers use zero to one hundred units of electricity, for them we are making a state plan. This will enable 70 percent of consumers to take advantage of the scheme and install solar panels on their homes," he added...////...
