Srinagar, Mar 31 (Reporter) Writer and news broadcaster Ravinder Ravi has been awarded the Kashmir Education Culture and Science Society (KECSS) 2024 award for his outstanding contribution to promoting the Kashmiri language.
The award was conferred on Ravi for his remarkable contribution to Kashmiri news broadcasting, language, and literature by the justice (Retd). Sanjay Krishen Kaul in New Delhi on Sunday.
Ravi, a prolific news broadcaster, is presently heading the Kashmir news unit in ‘News Services Division, AIR, New Delhi.
He had been entrusted with another responsibility of heading the Sanskrit unit, he was also running the Nepali unit for some time.
He has authored three books including two poetry collections. In addition, most of his poems have been printed in various prestigious magazines and journals.
Spanning more than 30 years as a writer, he has written numerous well-acclaimed articles on various subjects.
Ravi was also awarded ‘Sarva Shreshth Rachna Puraskar’ by the then Director of General News in 2014. His translation too has been hailed as a monograph on Ramdhan Singh Dinkar in Kashmiri for Sahitya Akademi.
Ravi has done a master's in Kashmiri from the University of Kashmir, news and language experts have reviewed his diction syntax, news reading, and translations as more communicable, lively, and excellent.
Several of his poems have been translated into Hindi and other languages by eminent literary personalities.
Ravi represented the Kashmiri language in Bhartiya Kavita Utsav organized by Hindi Academy, Delhi-NCR, Delhi government in 2010. All the poems that Ravi read during the Utsav were published in Hindi Academy’s prestigious magazine, Indraprastha Bharti.
