Women's group renames ‘Pannu Chowk’ as ‘Op Sindoor Tiranga Chowk’

Ghaziabad/Sahibabad, Aug 30 (Reporter) The Naari Shakti Organization in Sahibabad has renamed Pannu Chowk, located at Shalimar Garden Extension-2, as ‘Operation Sindoor Tiranga Chowk’, in what the group described as a symbolic act of women’s empowerment and patriotism. The event, led by the organization’s president Reema Verma, began with a cleanliness drive at the square, followed by the hoisting of the Tricolour. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers, police personnel from Shalimar Garden police station, local residents, women, and children participated in the celebration. Cultural events and felicitation of police personnel were also held. The organization said the renaming drew inspiration from Operation Sindoor, a recent military exercise against Pakistan that showcased the leadership of women officers Sofia Qureshi and Vyomika Singh. “This is a tribute to women’s strength, the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the spirit of nationalism,” Verma said. However, the organization alleged that miscreants vandalized the square, destroying decorations, patriotic symbols, and the newly installed signboard. “This is not just about renaming a square, it is about safeguarding the honour of women empowerment, nationalism, and Swachh Bharat,” the Organization stated in a press note.
