Lucknow, Mar 20 (Reporter) Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday reiterated that women are not safe under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government and crime is taking place against women, sisters and daughters every day. In a statement issued here, Akhilesh said, "The suspicious murder of a woman from Ayodhya after rape in Lucknow is extremely painful. The Chief Minister's zero tolerance on law and order and crime against women is fading away every day and the safety of sisters and daughters is under threat." He alleged, "Ever since the BJP government has come to power in the state, large-scale crime is taking place against women and daughters. Criminals have no fear of the law. Exploitation of Dalit, backward and minority women is at its peak in Uttar Pradesh." The SP chief said that information had been received that the woman from Ayodhya went to Varanasi for an interview and wanted to come to her brother's house in Lucknow. "The police are hiding whatever happened to that woman when she took an auto from Alambagh bus stand to go home. It is being heard that the woman has been raped and murdered. The woman had informed the police but the police did not take any action. Is this the government's zero-tolerance?," he said. He said that the statistics show that women and girls are most unsafe in UP. He has demanded that strict action be taken against the accused and the government should give compensation to the victim's family. Akhilesh said, "Before this, a heinous crime was committed against a student in Prayagraj. The criminals killed the student and hung her from a tree. The people who raped the daughter in the BHU campus were from the BJP. Their pictures are with the CM. The daughter did not get justice." He claimed that all the claims of the government regarding women's safety in UP are false. "There is an atmosphere of fear among sisters and daughters and their families. The BJP government of UP has completely failed in providing security to women," he said. The Sp chief said that the BJP raises new issues to cover up rising inflation, unemployment, corruption in every department, and crime incidents in every district. "Corruption is at its peak. In Varanasi, a senior jail official intimidated and threatened a junior official. Molested him. All these incidents are happening in the Prime Minister's Lok Sabha constituency. There is no rule of law in the state. Injustice and oppression are at their peak," he said...////...
