Saharanpur (UP), Sept 5 (Reporter) Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Thursday stressed the need to encourage women and said that today women have progressed at the global level and they should be motivated to move ahead and their ambitions should not be suppressed. During the second convocation of Maa Shakumbhari University, the Governor conferred degrees to 25,181 students, in which six were awarded Chancellor Gold Medals, 63 Vice Chancellor Gold Medals and 2 students were awarded sponsored Gold Medals. The Governor said that today is the era of change. "This convocation is a direct example of this era of change. In this, 80 percent girl students and 20 percent boy students have received degrees. Progress can be made in any field through education. There is a need to work hard and make efforts," she said. She said, "I myself have been associated with education and social sector and in these 70 years I have seen a change in the status of women. This change is visible in various fields including agriculture, animal husbandry. Today women have progressed at the global level, now they should be encouraged to move ahead and their ambitions should not be suppressed." Anandiben said that 35 percent of the population in India is youth. "The thinking has changed to make this dream come true. In the coming 25 years when we will be celebrating the centenary of the country's independence, then India will be a developed nation. But this development will be considered only when every common man has access to water, education, health, housing and development is holistic," she said. She said that everyone should resolve to eradicate poverty. "Since 2014, 25 percent people have come out of the poverty line," she said. The Governor said that to make India a developed country, it is necessary to develop the skills of the youth. "Loans should be given to encourage them. It is the responsibility of the governments, ministers and officials to give them direction. She said that for the development of remote areas, it is necessary to remove middlemen and we are able to do this work through the technology available today," she said...////...
