Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while addressing a foundation stone laying and inauguration ceremony in Hatpipliya on Wednesday, announced that with the blessings of Maa Narmada, the long-standing demand for drinking water and irrigation in the region will now be fulfilled. Dr. Yadav laid the foundation for 20 development works worth ₹60 crore and inaugurated 65 projects worth ₹130 crore, marking a total investment of ₹190 crore in the area.

He informed that Indore, Dewas, Ujjain, Shajapur's Maksi, and Dhar and Badnawar have been included in the state’s metropolitan zone, opening up new avenues for development. The Chief Minister urged farmers not to sell their land, assuring them that irrigation from Maa Narmada will transform agriculture in the region.

Highlighting progress, he noted that the irrigated area in Madhya Pradesh has grown from 7 lakh hectares in 2003 to 55 lakh hectares today. He also announced that electric connections for irrigation would be provided to farmers for just ₹5, and that the state had purchased wheat at ₹2,600 per quintal, achieving record production.

The government is actively promoting horticulture, hosting agriculture fairs across the state to encourage the use of high-yield seeds and modern equipment. A major agriculture fair will be held in Bhopal in October. For dairy development, farmers with more than 25 cows will receive 25% subsidy to promote cattle-rearing.
