Shimla, Feb 24 (Reporter) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a major spell of rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh due to two active western disturbances over the next few days. Starting tomorrow, heavy snowfall is expected in higher reaches, while mid and lower hills may experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. The wet spell is likely to continue for three days, potentially causing disruptions in vehicular movement, especially in high-altitude areas. Fog and low visibility conditions may also impact traffic along major rivers and dams. Over the past 24 hours, most stations in the state recorded normal or near-normal minimum temperatures, with some isolated locations reporting temperatures below normal by 2-3°C. Maximum temperatures remained above normal by 3-5°C at most places.Kukumseri recorded the lowest temperature at -11.2°C, making it the coldest place in Himachal Pradesh. Minimum temperature of Shimla (State Capital): 6.2°C, Dharamshala 4.8°C, Mandi 7.6°C,Solan 5.2°C, Una 6.4°C (also recorded the highest maximum temperature of 26.8°C) Nahan 8.3°C, Bilaspur, 8.0°C, Kangra 7.4°C, Keylong 9.7°C Bhuntar (Kullu Airport): 4.0°C and Jubberhatti (Shimla Airport): 7.2°C and Gaggal (Kangra Airport near Dharamshala): 4.8°C. With the upcoming western disturbances, temperatures are expected to drop further, increasing the chances of snowfall and rain-related disruptions.
