New Delhi, Apr 11 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the 'Employment Linked Incentive' scheme, and asked whether it is "another jumla?" as the government has returned the Rs 10,000 crores allotted to it. Gandhi accused the Modi government of not being serious about creating employment, and of focusing "solely on large corporates and favoring cronies over fair competition". Taking to his social media handle X, Rahul Gandhi said: “After the 2024 election, PM Modi announced the 'Employment Linked Incentive' scheme with much fanfare, promising to provide employment to our youth.” He alleged, “It’s been nearly a year since announcing the scheme, the government hasn't even defined it, and has returned the Rs 10,000 crores allotted to it. This shows how serious the PM is about unemployment”. He said, “Jobs can't be created by focusing only on large corporates, promoting cronies over fair-play businesses, prioritising assembly over production, and disregarding India's indigenous skills”. He added that crores of jobs can be generated through significant investment in MSMEs, the creation of fair markets that encourage healthy competition, support for local production networks, and by equipping the youth with the necessary skills. Expressing concern, Rahul also posed three questions to the Prime Minister: “Prime Minister ji, you announced ELI with great showmanship - but where has this Rs 10,000 crore scheme disappeared? Have you abandoned our unemployed youth along with your promises? While you create new slogans every day, our youth are still waiting for real opportunities...////...
