Bengaluru, Oct 20 (Reporter) India skipper Rohit Sharma expressed concern over wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant's recovery following his leg injury, underscoring the importance of managing Pant's rehabilitation with caution. "He's had a massive operation on his leg, so we all know what he went through," Rohit said during a press interaction here on Sunday. Pant, who has been recovering from multiple surgeries following his injury, continues to experience difficulties, particularly while running between the wickets. Rohit explained, "Even when he was batting, he was not comfortably running. He was trying to only put the ball in the stands." Pant, who underwent a major knee surgery along with several minor procedures, has faced significant challenges over the past year. Rohit emphasised the trauma Pant endured during his recovery, noting that it is essential to handle the situation with care. "When you're keeping, you have to bend every ball with your knee going down, and with the wicket being what it was, we thought it was the right decision for him to stay inside and get 100% ready for the next one," the Indian skipper added, highlighting Pant’s physical demands as a wicketkeeper.
