Chennai, June 14 (Reporter) Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar will be visiting Tamil Nadu and
Pondicherry for three days from tomorrow, Sunday.
He was expected to arrive at Chennai airport tomorrow night and after an overnight stay at Raj Bhavan here, he would visit Pondicherry.
Mr Dhankar, who is also Chancellor of Pondicherry University, will be visiting the premises at
10.00 AM on June 17 to interact with students, faculty and staff members at Jawaharlal Nehru Auditorium, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Administrative Building.
All the required arrangements are being made for his visit to the University, official sources said.
Meanwhile, the Greater Chennai City police have tightened security arrangements in view of his
visit and has banned flying of drones and UAVs for three days from June 15 to 17.
"The Hon’ble Vice President of India will be transiting Chennai Airport to Puducherry on June 15
and from Puducherry to Chennai Airport on June 17", a police release said today.
An order under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 was promulgated prohibiting use of drones, remote controlled micro-lighted aircrafts, para gliders and is already
in force from May 28 to July 26 in Greater Chennai Police limits.
In view of security reasons, the area coming under the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Police
including Chennai Airport, Raj Bhavan and the routes to be traversed by the VVIP have been declared has a “Red Zone” and flying of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)/Drone and
any other aerial objects have been banned in Chennai from June 15 to 17, except the Government arrangements, it said...////...
