A special ceremony was held at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium of Samrat Vikramaditya University, Ujjain, on Friday to mark the university’s Foundation Day and the unveiling of its new name plaque. The event was graced by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav as the chief guest.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that today is not merely a day of renaming a university, but a day symbolizing the revival of the glory of Ujjain and the entire Madhya Pradesh. “Vikram University now begins a new journey of pride and legacy as Samrat Vikramaditya University. This moment is a reflection of our collective pride and deep emotional connection,” he said.
CM Dr. Yadav stated that Ujjain has always been the cultural capital of India, the land from where the light of knowledge, science, spirituality and culture illuminated the world. He said, “This is the sacred city where Lord Krishna received education, where every grain is blessed by Mahakal and where the great emperor Samrat Vikramaditya established the ideals of dharma, justice and wisdom.
Reminiscing about his student life, the Chief Minister said, “I am an alumnus of this very university. Many memories of my student days are fresh again today. This institution has not only been a center of education but also a source of inspiration that guided me toward social service, leadership, and public life.” He emphasised that the renaming of Vikram University is not just a change of words but a restoration of the identity that once represented the pride of Ujjain. “The name ‘Samrat Vikramaditya’ embodies our tradition, culture, and national pride. With this name, the university will move forward with new energy, new ideas, and a renewed vision.”
