Vietnamese PM congratulates PM Modi on India's growing role on global stage

Rio de Janeiro/New Delhi, July 7 (Reporter) Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Rio BRICS Summit, congratulated India on its recent achievements and growing role on the global stage, particularly within the BRICS bloc. PM Modi in turn described the Vietnamese PM Chinh as a close friend of India. In a post on X, PM Modi said: “Had a good conversation with PM Phạm Minh Chinh of Vietnam on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Brazil.” PM Modi and the Vietnamese PM met on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. India is set to take over the rotating presidency of BRICS this year. Vietnam was made a partner country of BRICS this year. The BRICS is a group formed by eleven countries: its five original members – Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa --and six new members admitted in 2024-25 - Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. It serves as a political and diplomatic coordination forum for countries from the Global South and for coordination in the most diverse areas.
