Thiruvananthapuram, July 18 (Reporter) In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and improving train occupancy, Southern Railway has enabled current reservations for eight Vande Bharat Express trains at en route stations, effective July 17. Passengers can now book available seats up to 15 minutes before departure at intermediate stations — a facility that was earlier restricted once the train departed from its originating station. This facility was limited earlier, curtailing the passengers from booking from en route stations once the train leaves Source station. With the new system in place, such vacant accommodations will now be made available for current booking of Vande Bharat Trains at enroute stations, significantly benefitting passengers and enabling better occupancy of the train. The upgradation marks a significant step toward streamlining last-minute travel on these high-speed trains, ensuring better utilization of vacant berths.
