Prayagraj/Lucknow, Nov 14 (Reporter) Conceding to the demands of the students demanding 'one day, one shift' and cancellation of the normalisation the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) on Thursday decided to conduct PCS (preliminary) 2024 on one day, official sources said here.
Sources said that Under Secretary of the UPPSC Omkar Nath Singh has issued a release in this regard. "It is hereby informed that in view of fairness, it was decided to conduct the Combined State/Senior Subordinate Service (Pre) Examination-2024 in two days. In view of the uniqueness of the Combined State/Senior Subordinate Service Examination, it has been decided in principle by the Commission to conduct it in one day as before," it read.
A state government spokesman said for the last few months, cases of paper leak in selection examinations had come to the fore in different parts of the country, in which the involvement of various institutions was found.
He said, "Keeping this in mind, with the aim of ensuring the purity and transparency of the selection examinations, the state government had recently expected to conduct the selection examinations with more than 5 lakh candidates in the state in multiple shifts, in which the necessary action was started by the UPPSC."
The spokesman said that with this objective, the UPPSC had also announced to conduct the proposed PCS (Preliminary) Examination 2024 and Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Pre) Examination-2023 in multiple shifts in the coming December.
He said that in relation to this, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the demand being made by some students for the last few days and he asked the Commission to take the necessary decision by communicating and coordinating with the students. "On this, the Commission took this decision in a proper manner by communicating with the students," he said.
The spokesman said that on the initiative of the CM, it has been decided to conduct the Commission PCS Preliminary Examination 2024 in one day as before.
He said, "Similarly, with the aim of conducting the Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (Pre) Examination-2023 in a transparent, qualitative and fair manner, a committee has been constituted by the Commission to conduct integrated research and analysis of all the facts, which will submit its detailed report very soon after considering all the aspects.
It may be noted that the students have been staging protest outside the UPPSC office for the last three days demanding a 'one day, one shift' examination by cancelling the normalisation process.
Earlier in the day, the students had a minor scuffle with the police on Thursday, police sources said.
Police said that the agitating students broke the barricade and reached the main gate of the UPPSC office in the morning...////...
