UP: SP declares 7 candidates, Babu Singh Kushwaha to contest from Jaunpur

Lucknow, Apr 14 (Reporter) Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday released a list of seven candidates, including former Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, for the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. The party has fielded Kushwaha from the Jaunpur seat against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Kripa Shanker Singh. It may be noted that Babu Singh Kushwaha was a cabinet minister in the Mayawati government and was considered a close confidant of the party chief. Kushwaha later had differences with Mayawati and was expelled from BSP. He was sent to jail for his alleged involvement in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam. After being expelled from BSP, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a brief period before the saffron brigade distanced itself after controversy. Later Kushwaha launched Jan Adhikar Party (JAP). His party contested a number of seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Among others, the party has fielded Priya Saroj, daughter of former MP Tufanin Sraoj, from Machhlishahr seat. Priya, who is making an entry into electoral politics, is a lawyer by profession. For the Domariyaganj seat, SP has named Bhishm Shankar Tiwari alias Kushal Tiwrai as its candidate. Kushal Tiwari is the son of former heavyweight of eastern UP Hari Shankar Tiwari and a former MP on the BSP ticket. He lost two Lok Sabha elections from the Sant Kabir Nagar seat. The party has fielded Amarnath Maurya from Phulpur, Ram Shrimani Verma from Shravasti, Laxmi Kant alias Papu Nishad from Sant Kabir Nagar, and Rama Shankar Rajbhar from Salempur...////...
