UP: Nomination of BSP candidate from Bareilly rejected

Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), April 20 (Reporter) In a setback to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the nomination of its party candidate from Bareilly Lok Sabha seat was cancelled on technical grounds on Saturday, a poll official said here. District Magistrate and Returning Officer Ravindra Kumar said that 28 candidates had filed nominations for Bareilly Lok Sabha constituency. He said that during scrutiny, nomination papers of 14 candidates, including BSP nominee Chhote Lal Gangwar were found incomplete and were rejected. He said that similarly 20 candidates had filed nomination papers for Aonla Lok Sabha seat during which papers of BSP candidate Abid Raza Khan were found incomplete and were rejected. However, Kumar said that on the appeal of the BSP leader, the nomination was re-scrutinised and Abid's papers were declared valid in the evening. Meanwhile, BSP's district president Rajiv Kumar Singh alleged that a person named Satveer Singh filed the nomination by attaching fake papers. He has given a complaint at Kotwali police station to lodge a case against Satveer under relevant sections. The DM said that in total, nomination papers of 11 candidates were rejected after which only 9 candidates were left in fray. It may be noted that Bareilly district covers 9 assembly seats in which Pilibhit, Bareilly and Aonla Lok Sabha constituencies fall.
