Jaunpur (UP), Sep 8 (Reporter) Gunner of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former candidate from Malhani assembly seat Manoj Singh was killed when his carbine fired accidentally in Barsathi area of Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, a police officer said here. Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Kumar Singh said that two gunners Rajak Pandey and Ratnesh Prajapati (27) were provided in the security of BJP leader Manoj Singh, a resident of Babri village. "Around 6 am when constable Ratnesh Prajapati was cleaning his carbine it fired accidentally and he was hit in head," he said. He said that Majoh Singh's friend Alok Shukla and contable Rajak Pandey informed the police after which Inspector Barsathi reached the spot and Ratnesh was taken to the district hospital where doctors declared him dead, The ASP said that Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Ajay Pal Sharma along with Circle Officer Marahu and CO Machhlishahr visited the spot. He said that a personnel of 2018 atch Ratnesh was a resident of Sarai Lakhansi in Mau district.
