Lucknow, Mar 25 (Reporter) In a move to enhance learning and extracurricular engagement, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to introduce summer camps in select council schools during the summer break, official sources said here on Tuesday. Sources said that under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Basic Education Department has begun preparations to organise these camps from May 20 to June 15. "This initiative will allow students to engage in fun learning, sports, and various skill-based activities," they said. Sources said that following the CM's directives, the summer camps will run in the morning for an hour and a half, focusing on interactive and engaging activities for the holistic development of children. "The camps will be supervised by Shiksha Mitras, instructors, and teachers, with additional support from non-government organisations (NGOs) and graduate volunteers," they said. Sources said that besides, to ensure children's well-being, nutritious snacks such as jaggery chikki, millet laddoos, ramdana laddoos, and jaggery-chana will be provided under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme. "This will keep children physically and mentally active while fostering a love for learning," they said. Sources said that the summer camps will further incorporate Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN)-based activities, life skills, personality development, yoga, sports, science and technology experiments, arts, cultural programmes, and environmental awareness. "This will nurture students' hidden talents and provide them with a new direction for growth," they said. Sources said that the Yogi government has allocated an estimated Rs 200 crore for this ambitious initiative.
