Kasganj (UP), April 11 (Reporter) Five youths were feared drowned while taking a bath in the Hazara canal in the Tatarpur area of Kasganj district in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday, a senior police officer said here. Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Rajat Kaushik said Salman (16), Shahid (17), Jahid (18), Asif (22) and Abhishek (16) were missing. A rescue operation is being carried out to trace the missing youths," she said. The SP said nine youths, all residents of Etah district, had gone to take a bath in the Hazara canal. "While taking a bath all the youths slipped into deep water and started drowning," . She said that while four youths-- Suhail, Rohit, Farman, and Faizan, were rescued, five went missing. Police sources said District Magistrate Sudha Verma, SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik, Additional SP Rajesh Bharati, and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sanjeev Kumar are camping on the spot and leading the rescue operation. ASP Rajesh Bharati said the flood unit and divers of the 43rd battalion of PAC are searching for the missing youths with the help of a steamer. "The SDRF team has also been called on the spot.
