UP: 115 villagers trapped in flood water rescued safely

Bahraich, July 20 (Reporter) Around 115 villagers trapped in the flood water were successfully rescued in a joint operation by local administration and the police in Sujauli area of Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Police sources here said that villagers from Chahalwa village under Sujauli police station in Meherpur district had gone to work in their field on an island near Ghaghara river on Friday evening. "Due to the sudden release of water from Nepal, the water level started rising in Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghaghara barrage last evening and as a result 115 people were trapped," they said. Police sources said that the police and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sanjay Kumar were informed by the people after which a rescue operation was launched. "The people were rescued safely with the help of boats of flood outposts and local residents," they said. District Magistrate (DM) Monica Rani said that 115 people from Chahalwa village were trapped due to flash floods. She said that all the people have been rescued safely...////...
