Srinagar, Feb 15 (Reporter) Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Friday said the Union Budget would lay the foundation for the “Viksit Bharat” or developed India by 2047.
The Union Minister emphasized the transformative impact of the Union Budget 2025-26 on Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting major allocations and policy initiatives aimed at boosting infrastructure, business, and economic development in the region.
Speaking at a press conference, Rijiju said that the budget lays the foundation for a developed India by 2047, with special focus on the middle class, farmers, women, and small-scale industries.
He underscored the Modi government's commitment to improving J&K’s economic landscape and providing substantial relief to taxpayers, with the exemption limit raised from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
Responding to concerns about a reduction in the overall budget allocation for J&K, Rijiju said that budget allocation is according to Union Territory
“The Finance Minister clearly said, that the capacity to spend, that money is being made available. Apart from that, whatever you need, that will be fulfilled,” he said.
Rijju said that in the Budget it has also announced a mission to export Kashmir-made products including Apple, crafts, and other varieties.
He said since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took over the reins of the country in 2014 Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing massive development and moving fast ahead.
“I believe after this budget the small scale industries of Jammu and Kashmir will see a big revolution” he said adding "the world is talking and praising the India Budget passed in the Parliament".
He said a big exhibition would be conducted in the Kashmir valley in the coming three to four months where the artisans could display their products and sell them easily.
Such an exhibition was being established in Delhi for which the concerned department is bearing all travel boarding and lodging expenses.
The farmers in Jammu and Kashmir will also get benefit in the budget for their procurement of their crop and its sale in the market has been taken care off and it will benefit them.
The youth and the children studying in school and colleges will experiment new ventures and for that establishment of “Atal Tinkering Lab” has been announced in the Union Budget.
He said this will be a big opportunity for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to get expertise side by side with completing their degrees in the modern technology world.
He said in the “make in India” programme the central government with the state administration would provide assistance to the youth to become self-reliant.
On infrastructure, he highlighted recent major projects, including national highways, railways, and tunnel developments, which are expected to enhance connectivity and economic opportunities.
He credited PM Modi’s leadership for the rapid transformation of J&K, citing the recently inaugurated tunnels and ongoing railway projects that will make travel between Jammu and the Kashmir Valley smoother...////...
