Ujjain’s Glorious Legacy Endures Through the Ages: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Ujjain (Avantika), one of the seven sacred cities of the country, has always held an illustrious place in every era. Names such as King Vikramaditya, Mahakavi Kalidas, Emperor Ashoka and Chandra Pradyot are eternally associated with Ujjain. The city also carries the proud legacy of national hero Durga Das Rathore. Today, Bhoomi-Pujan was performed for the restoration of his ‘Chhatri’. The Chief Minister said, “In every age, Ujjain’s saga has been one of glory, and we are now entering a new era.” He added that Regal Talkies in the Gopal Mandir area of Ujjain has a glorious history—it is the venue where the procession of Lord Shri Mahakaleshwar is taken out, the peshwai during Singhasth begins here, and it also symbolises the union of Hari and Har.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav performed Bhoomi-Pujan for development projects worth Rs. 79.27 crore on Wednesday, at a program held at Chhatri Chowk near Gopal Mandir. These projects include— Development of Regal Talkies at a cost of Rs. 25.15 crore, Road widening from Gada Puliya to Ravi Shankar Nagar via Jaisinghpura up to Lalpul Bridge at a cost of Rs. 22.30 crore (under preparations for the upcoming Singhasth Mahaparva) and Road widening from Gadi Adda Chauraha to VD Cloth Market, Nikas Chauraha, Khajur Wali Masjid, KD Gate road via Juna Somwaria to Badi Puliya at a cost of Rs. 31.83 crore. A short film showcasing the proposed upgradation of Regal Talkies was also screened. The redevelopment will be carried out over an area of 36,000 sq. ft.
