Phagwara, Dec 20 (Reporter) Two persons, including a 28-year-old Australia based NRI and a taxi driver were killed on the spot and a woman was critically injured when their taxi rammed into a Sugarcane loaded tractor-trolley near Sugar Mill Chowk on the National Highway near Phagwara late on Thursday night.
The injured Gurinder Kaur, mother of the NRI, was first admitted to local civil hospital and was later referred to DMC Ludhiana in critical condition.
The deceased NRI was identified as Dilpreet Singh of Ludhiana and Yuvraj Masih the taxi driver.
Harpreet Singh, father of Dilpreet, said that his wife was coming back with her NRI son from Australia
and after landing at Amritsar Airport they were returning back to Ludhiana in taxi which rammed into
the tractor trolley which was driven without reflectors.
The driver of tractor trolley managed to escape leaving the vehicle and the injured in a pool of blood.
Investigating officer Jatinder Singh said the police have registered a case against the tractor trolley driver who is still at large. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their family members after post-mortem examination...////...
