Trump warns Iranians to leave Tehran amid escalating tensions

Washington/Tel Aviv/Tehran, June 17 (Reporter) US President Donald Trump has called for a mass exodus in the Iranian capital, as Israel’s war with Iran has entered its fifth day, with massive strikes being carried out by Tel Aviv against Tehran. "Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!" Trump said in a post on Truth Social, according to Iran International. "Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" he added. "AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!" Trump’s post and announcement came after Israel struck Iran’s state-run IRIB media agency during a live broadcast, after 8 Israeli citizens were killed in Tel Aviv by Iranian missile strikes. Following the attack, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz had vowed retribution, stating that Iranian citizens will have to “pay the price.” So far, over 24 people have been killed in Israel and more 227 Iranians were killed on Friday by Israeli strikes. Additionally, Israel apart from killing several members of Iran’s top brass on Friday also killed the newly appointed IRGC commander Gen Ali Shademani today just days after his predecessor Gholam Ali Rashid was killed. After Trump cut short his G7 visit to address the new situation, the US deployed more aircraft to Europe, placing them closer to West Asia in to protect its interests, reports Time. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth said in a Monday statement on X that “additional capabilities” have also been deployed to the Middle East. “Protecting US forces is our top priority and these deployments are intended to enhance our defensive posture in the region,” he said. White House spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer rebutted the suggestion that the moves indicate that the U.S. has joined the war. “American forces are maintaining their defensive posture, and that has not changed. We will defend American interests,” he said on X. “We are vigilant. We are prepared. We have messaged consistently from the beginning that we’re in the region to defend our people and our assets,” Hegseth said on Fox News on Monday. Earlier on Monday, Trump urged Iran to pursue immediate talks with Israel to deescalate hostilities, warning that continued conflict could have dire consequences. “Iran is not winning this war, and they should talk, and they should talk immediately before it’s too late,” Trump told reporters at the beginning of a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G7 summit...////...
