Trump nominates ex-Georgia senator Perdue as ambassador to China

Washington, Dec 6 (Reporter) US President-elect Donald Trump said on Friday that he has nominated ex-Georgia Senator David Perdue as Washington's ambassador to China. "Tonight, I am announcing that former U.S. Senator, David Perdue, has accepted my appointment as the next United States Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China. As a Fortune 500 CEO, who had a 40-year International business career, and served in the U.S. Senate, David brings valuable expertise to help build our relationship with China," Trump said on Truth Social. As the only Republican to have served on both the US Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees, Perdue will be "instrumental in implementing my strategy to maintain Peace in the region and a productive working relationship with China's leaders," the president-elect added. Perdue served as Senator for Georgia from 2015 to 2021 before failing to win the congressional election in 2022. After the 2020 elections, he demanded the resignation of the state's election officials over alleged mistakes in ballot counting. The nominee also backed the lawsuit by Trump's supporters who tried to cancel the results of the presidential election in the state. Other recent nominations include Border Patrol officer Rodney Scott as Commissioner of United States Customs and Border Protection and a member of the Senior Executive Service, Caleb Vitello, as Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement...////...
