Kolkata, Apr 23 (Reporter) West Bengal's ruling Trinamoool Congress on Wednesday blamed the BJP-led government at the Centre and held Union Home Minister Amit Shah "directly responsible" for the "security lapse" related to the terrorist attack at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir. Trinamool's counter-offensive against the BJP in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror strike came after the saffron outfit's sharp criticism of the Mamata Banerjee-led regime for its alleged appeasement of Muslims following the deadly Waqf movement protest in Murshidabad that left three dead, Posting a purported video of Amit Shah walking on a red carpet in the terror-hit region, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP, Sagarika Ghose wrote, “The photo op culture of the Narendra Modi–Amit Shah governance model is glaringly exposed in Pahalgam Terror Attack. A RED CARPET at a time of tragedy only illustrates how totally insensitive and shamelessly disconnected the Modi-Shah regime is. "This is the time for ACCOUNTABILITY not VVIP optics," she posted. Another Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Saket Gokhale wrote on his X handle, “For years, the Modi Govt kept boasting that “everything is normal” in J&K. In Parliament, Modi & Shah kept saying that everything is perfect in J&K…Truth is the Modi Govt FAILED to protect the lives of innocent Indian tourists yesterday…Why hasn’t Amit Shah uttered even a word of apology to the families of those who died & admitted that he’s failed in his job?” “On the other hand, the BJP has become active using this tragedy for inciting communal hate. How low can a political party go when fellow Indians have lost their lives? Why can’t the BJP spare a single dead body ever from their dirty politics?” he added. State Education Minister, Bratya Basu wrote on his X handle, “General intelligence was available. Then why were terrorists allowed to reach Pahalgam? Why didn’t the forces intervene to prevent this senseless massacre? This is Pulwama all over again. HM Amit Shah would be doing the nation a favour by resigning.” The Trinamool Congress’ wave of criticism echoed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who just days earlier had accused Shah of allegedly "deploying" central agencies to "aid infiltrators" from Bangladesh in "inciting unrest" in the state. “I would request the Prime Minister to keep a check on Amit Shah. He is harming the country most to serve his political interests. Why is he (Amit Shah) in such a hurry? He will never become the Prime Minister, and what will he do once Modi-ji leaves? The PM must see how his home minister is misusing central agencies. PM Modi-ji must control him,” Banerjee said at a meeting with the Muslim clerics at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata a few days back. “That man (Amit Shah) is responsible for the planning. Modi ji should have allowed all agencies to function under his control and he is misusing it. Modi ji should stop him,” she had said. The BJP, which has long accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of appeasing minorities to protect its vote bank—even after the deadly Waqf movement in Murshidabad—was quick to respond. “Mamata Banerjee must visit Murshidabad and apologise to the Hindus whose lives have been devastated by Islamist mobs acting at the behest of the TMC. Her government must compensate them for their losses and assist them in rebuilding their lives. She should also ensure that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice. It is time to stop this needless posturing when your own house is on fire,” chief of BJP IT cell and Bengal co-incharge Amit Malviya said...////...
