Train incident unfortunate, the Railways has started inquiry: CM Fadnavis

Mumbai, June 9 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the railways has begun a probe into the exact cause of the incident in which five train passengers died and seven were injured after they fell off an overcrowded local train. Terming the incident as very unfortunate, the CM said the injured were admitted to Shivaji Hospital and Thane General Hospital and are undergoing treatment. In a post on X, the CM said: "The incident of a total of eight passengers falling from a local train between Diva-Mumbra station and some of them lost their lives is very unfortunate. "I pay my heartfelt tributes to them. We share the grief of their families. "The injured were immediately admitted to Shivaji Hospital and Thane General Hospital and are undergoing treatment. "The local administration is coordinating. I pray to God that the injured get early relief. "The Railway Department has started an investigation into the exact cause of this incident," the CM posted. Five people were killed and seven others injured on Monday when around 10 passengers fell off an overcrowded local train that was about to arrive at Mumbra railway station in Maharashtra from Kasara, said police.
