Toluca sinks America to clinch Liga MX crown

Mexico City, May 26 (Reporter) Alexis Vega scored one goal and assisted another as Toluca secured the Liga MX Clausura title with a 2-0 home win over Club America in the second leg of the final. Brazilian defender Luan Garcia gave his side the lead just after the hour at Estadio Nemesio Diez, rising to head home Vega's pinpoint corner on Sunday. Vega doubled the advantage by converting an 82nd-minute penalty after Sebastian Caceres brought down Robert Morales. Despite controlling more than 60% of possession, America failed to register a shot on target as Andre Jardine's side suffered just its fourth defeat of the campaign. Toluca claimed the championship with a 2-0 aggregate victory after Thursday's first leg ended goalless at Club America's Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes.
