Tiruppur (Tamil Nadu), Oct 9 (Reporter) The death toll in the tragic country cracker explosion in a house in this city city rose to four, after a six-year-old girl succumbed to injuries at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Wednesday. Police said Niranjana, who was admitted to the CMCH, succumbed to injuries without responding to the treatment, this evening. A 52-year-old woman identified as Vijaya, nine-month-old baby girl Aliya Sherin and a worker Kumar (32) were killed and more than 10 people injured, when powerful country crackers made illegally in a portion of a two-storey house exploded at Ponnammal Street in Pandiyan Nagar, a residential area in Tiruppur city on Tuesday. The country crackers used for temple festivals, were made illegally in the house owned by Karthikeyan (40) by his brother-in-law Saravana Kumar (35). Saravana Kumar, who was making the country crackers, closed his fireworks unit after the expiry of the license in 2023. The house was reduced to rubble in the impact, besides damaging over ten houses in the vicinity. The Thirumuruganpoondi police registered a case against Saravana Kumar and Karthikeyan under Sections 3 (punishment for causing an explosion that could endanger life or property) and 5A (forfeiture of property) of the Explosive Substances Act, besides Section 9B (illegal manufacturing, import or export) of the Explosives Act and arrested them...////...
