Terrorist's aide held after encounter in Punjab

Chandigarh, May 1 (Reporter) The Ludhiana police arrested a key member of the foreign-based terrorist Lakhbir Landa gang following a brief encounter near village Sahibana, said DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Thursday. The police recovered one illegal weapon along with several cartridges. The DGP said the accused was wanted in a firing incident registered at a Ludhiana police station. The police said the encounter took place when the accused fired at the police team. The accused was injured in the retaliatory firing and admitted to a hospital. He was later arrested. DGP Yadav said that earlier, another accused in the same case, Akshay, was arrested on April 29.
