Hyderabad, Mar 12 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy emphasised the need to make Telangana globally competitive. Addressing the gathering after distributing appointment letters to newly selected Junior Lecturers for Intermediate Colleges and faculty members for Polytechnic Colleges at a grand event held at Ravindra Bharathi on Wednesday, the Chief Minister congratulated the appointees, stating that their new roles were not just jobs but carried deep emotional significance. He acknowledged the crucial role of the unemployed in the Telangana statehood movement and criticized the previous government for failing to address their concerns sincerely. Reddy lamented that 12 years of the aspirants’ lives were wasted due to the previous administration’s negligence. However, he expressed satisfaction that the current government filled 55,163 vacancies in its first year, providing a permanent solution to the unemployment crisis that had fueled the Telangana movement. Highlighting the importance of education, the Chief Minister stressed that the future of the country's economy is closely tied to its education system. He urged the newly appointed lecturers to work with dedication to improve educational standards, noting that the declining performance of government schools was a matter of concern. “We must strive to make government schools and colleges on par with private institutions,” he stated. Reddy emphasised that investing in students' education is an investment in the future and called for identifying the root causes behind the declining enrollment in government schools. To address this, the government is establishing Young India Integrated Schools to enhance educational standards. Reddy announced an allocation of Rs 11,000 crore for 55 such schools. Additionally, the government has set up Young India Skills University to boost the skills of students and unemployed youth. The Chief Minister also unveiled plans to establish the Young India Sports University and the Young India Sports Authority to promote excellence in sports, especially with the upcoming Olympics in mind. He highlighted the government's support for sportspersons, mentioning jobs provided to cricketer Siraj, boxer Nikhat Zareen, and Paralympian Deepti Jivanji. Criticising the previous administration led by K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Reddy accused the former government of leaving behind significant financial burdens. He claimed KCR’s mismanagement resulted in debts amounting to Rs 6,500 crore and described it as "financial cancer." “The KCR family continues to mislead the public with lies,” he remarked, affirming his commitment to transparent governance and genuine development.
