Telangana govt to introduce Health Tourism Policy soon: CM

Hyderabad, Mar 1 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said the state government will introduce a Health tourism policy soon. Government is making efforts to promote Telangana as a health hub to serve not only the people of the state but also other countries, Reddy said on Friday evening while addressing a function organised to felicitate AIG Hospitals Chairman Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, who was recently awarded the Padma Vibhushan. He said Dr Nageshwar Reddy is a distinguished doctor and got a big civilian award from the Telugu community. Received Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan awards.He is also eligible for India's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, the CM said. The Government, the CM said, is also planning to create a health campus near the Airport on a thousand acres of land, he said that his government is seeking the support of Dr Nageshwar Reddy to promote the state into a health hub. For the first time in the country, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has taken the initiative of providing free corporate medical treatment to the poor through the Aarogyasri scheme, the CM recalled. He said the state government had already increased the Arogyasri limit to Rs 10 lakhs from Rs 5 lakhs and provided health care to the poor in the state. In the past, family doctors played a key role in monitoring the health of families but now, such a strong system does not exist, he said that there is a need to bring back the family doctor system.
